Our Founders

Mälardalen International School was founded by Industritekniska Gymnasiet AB's owner Fredrik Svensson in close collaboration with Northvolt, Hitachi and Västerås municipality.  We believe high quality education is the most important aspect for a sustainable future.

Every child is a very special individual who needs a welcoming, warm, safe but also challenging environment in which to grow. A child’s natural curiosity to explore his/her world gives teachers the basis on which to build learning experiences that will provide a solid foundation for the years to come. Mälardalen International School recognises the importance of the school years.  We know that it is vital that each child receives a high-quality education. Our students have the best opportunities to continue growing into creative, resilient, independent, flexible and socially adept young global citizens.

Authorized PYP and MYP IB World School

MISV is proud to be an IB World School!

Since completing the rigorous authorization process for the Primary Years Programme in November 2024, and for the Middle Years Programme in January 2025,  MISV is now officially recognized as an IB World School by the International Baccalaureate Organization.

Safe and respectful school environment

Our students work together to establish Essential Agreements that guide their choices while at school. All members of the MISV community are respected and valued for their differences.

Command of both Swedish & English

Our students become confident communicators in both English and Swedish. Students' language development is supported through meaningful, inquiry-based learning.
